National Park Paklenica

National Park Paklenica is just about 50 km away from Zadar. National Park stretches on the littoral slope of South Velebit. Because of its unique natural base, exceptional geomorphological forms and majestic forests, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica already 1949th was declared a national park.

It is very easy to reach it from Zadar, there are affordable public busses that can get you to Starigrad (the city on the entrance to the Park). You can do a one day trip from Zadar if you want the get a glance of it, and come back in the evening if you are not really into sleeping in the wild. Those more adventurous can explore the Park for several days spending the nights in one of the many shelters in the mountain. Do not forget your sleeping bag! :)

National Park Plitvice

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is open to visitors all year round. The touring and sightseeing zone mainly covers the area around the lakes and the waterfalls. There are many hiking trails and two educational trails. We recommend you obtain up-to-date information about the available tours prior to making your visit, as the tours are largely affected by the current season and the weather conditions in the Park.

National Park Kornati

The Kornati archipelago, as a separate and special island group located between Šibenik and Zadar islands, covers the area of about 320 km2 and includes about 150 land units, located either permanently or frequently above the sea. The archipelago makes 12% of all the islands in the Croatian Adriatic – 1264 islands, 67 of them inhabited. It has been long attracting the attention of yachtsmen, divers, mountaineers and other nature lovers.

It is easy to book a boat tour to this National park and it is perfect for those who want to chill on the boat all day, sunbathing with a glass of wine!

National Park Krka

The national park is a vast and primarily unaltered area of exceptional natural value, including one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems. The purpose of the park is primarily to serve science, culture, education and recreation, while tourism activities have also been introduced for its visitors. Krka National Park lies within Šibenik-Knin County, and covers a total area of 109 km2 of the loveliest sections of the Krka River, and the lower course of the Čikola River.

It is about 80 km from Zadar, an easy one hour car drive trough a picturesque scenery of Dalmatian hinterland.

Bungee Jumping

The legend says that bungee jumping first appeared on the Pentecost Island in the South Pacific. During the Second World War the westerners came to this island for the first time and discovered this people and their custom of bungee jumping. According to this legend, one of the natives, Tamalie, was abusing his wife, so she decided to run away. She climbed a tall tree to hide, but he found her and climbed after her. While he was climbing, she tied up lianas around her ankles and in the moment Tamalie tried to catch her, she jumped from the tree. Tamalie jumped after her, hit the ground and died.

Maslenica bridge bungee jumping is an unique experience for adrenaline junkies, just half an hour drive from Zadar. Ask staff for more info!

 Zrmnja river Rafting

Zrmanja is the best option for river adventure sports like rafting, canoeing and kayaking. During the rute you will see forests, a mountain, waterfalls and many other unforgettable sights - all that while you are having an adventure of your life. One part of Zrmanja river runs trough the Velebit Nature Park, and is still enough for beginners to have their first adventure experience. Krupa - tributary of Zrmanja is, on the other hand, full of exciting waterfalls and runs faster. Many lakes can also be found in the vicinity of these two beautiful rivers - a perfect places to spend some time swimming and enyoing your summer far from the usual crowds.

Rafting and kanuing tours start either from Obrovac or from Kaštel Žegarski, both places less then an hour drive form Zadar. Adventurous sports combined with a beautiful river scenary - once in a lifetime experience!

Assearia ruin

Asseria ruin is located about 25 kilometers from Zadar and 6 km from the city Benkovac. This 2000 years old ruin is a real jewel for history and archeology lovers from around the world. It was built by Romans and have one of the best preserved remains of city walls in the area. The place is now made into an archeological park that is a must see for the travelers exploring the area.

   

Saharun Beach

Saharun is located on the biggest island of Zadar archipelago - Dugi otok. Beautiful white stone and sand together with clean, transparent sea is a perfect option for relaxing far from the city. Also, it is surrounded with pine forest which gives those who want it enough shade to spend the entire day there. In 2012., Saharun Bay became member of the group "The most Beautiful Bays of the World".

It is easy to catch a ferry from Zadar Old Town to Dugi otok, and if you want to go to the island with your car so you can expore it whole, you can do that by going to the port Gaženica.

Nin - Croatia's Oldest Royal City 

This small gem is only half an hour drive from Zadar and it is great option for a one day trip for those who want to combine sightseeing and relaxing on sandy beaches. The city was founded in 9th century BC, which makes it almost 3000 years old! Now, that's something... In middle ages it was the political, religious and cultural center of the area, but after the conflicts with Venice and Osman Empire it was deserted. Some time after, the locals came back and now the city is a big tourist center due to it's cultural and historical importance. 

Only 15 km from Zadar, you can reach it within 30 minutes with a public bus that runs every one hour. Do not miss out!
